Cuartel Ruins and Oslob Church

In the southernmost part of Cebu lies a peaceful flourishing town full of ineffable beauty from its surrounding beaches that draws you in to its dominating mountains filled with underlying  wonders. There is no wonder why Oslob often makes it to the top spots to visit in Cebu.
Since Oslob is more or less a two-hour drive from Dumaguete City, I have been to this place a few times each discovering a gem this little town holds. Aside from the fact that I have been passing this town, for God knows how many times, to and from Cebu City the first time I really set foot here is to go and see their famous butandings. I have written about their whale watching activity in a separate blog.

A few meters away from the national road is the church of considerable size. The Immaculate Conception church is made of cut coral stones physically boasting its white external facade. On its right wing is the three-tier bell tower, a clear display of grandeur.
It was said that the church was built from corals gathered from the sea just across the church, and was cemented using millions of egg whites. The church is a significant evidence of Filipino labor.
  • The Municipal Heritage Park consists of Calle Aragones, Immaculate Conception Church, Cuartel, Baluarte, and the baywalk. I would say this is one of the best places to visit in summer because you’ll surely have unlimited Instagram posts with almost every corner of their heritage park offering an ‘instagrammable’ spot.
CALLE ARAGONES

This is the oldest street in Oslob which also serves as the entrance that leads to the rest of the heritage park.
